Welcome to the Season for Nonviolence

The Season for Nonviolence is a globally recognized campaign dedicated to promoting peace, compassion, and understanding through nonviolent action. This annual observance spans 64 days, from January 30th to April 4th, commemorating the lives and legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Mission

The mission of the Season for Nonviolence is to promote and inspire practices of nonviolence and peace in daily life. This initiative aims to:

  • Educate and Raise Awareness: Encourage understanding of the principles of nonviolence advocated by leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

  • Foster Community: Bring people together to collectively work towards a more peaceful and just world.

  • Empower Individuals: Provide tools and practices that empower individuals to make nonviolent choices and foster peace in their communities.

  • Create a Culture of Peace: Build a global movement that embraces nonviolent action as a means to resolve conflicts and achieve justice.

This mission is embodied through daily themes, quotations, affirmations, and practices that guide participants in living nonviolently and making a positive impact.

2025 Theme: "Fostering Peace through Daily Nonviolent Choice"

The theme for the Season for Nonviolence 2025 is "Fostering Peace through Daily Nonviolent Choice." This theme encourages individuals to make daily choices that promote peace and nonviolence, recognizing that every person can contribute to a more peaceful world through their actions.

Honoring Reverend Mary Omwake

We take this opportunity to honor Reverend Mary Omwake, a beloved past senior minister here at Unity in Lynnwood. Mary served on the Leadership Council of the Association for Global New Thought from 1997 to 2015 and was deeply involved in the organization's activities and initiatives, including the Season for Nonviolence campaign. She devoted her life to promoting nonviolence and peace.
