This summer, we’ve been on a spiritual voyage together—Sailing the 7 C’s—exploring the essential experiences that nourish the soul and deepen our spiritual life. We’ve journeyed through Communion, Connection, and Compassion, and now, in August, we arrive at the heart of our voyage: Community.
Community is where the soul comes to land. It is more than a gathering of individuals—it is the sacred circle where we are reminded:
“You are not alone. You belong here.”
We all long to be part of something real…A space where we can be seen, heard, and held. A place where our gifts are welcome, our wounds are honored, and our growth is supported.
In Unity, Community is a spiritual practice. It’s not about perfection. It’s about presence. It’s about choosing, again and again, to walk together with compassion, integrity, and grace.
This month, we affirm two of our most cherished Core Values:
Welcoming Community — We create a spiritual environment that is inclusive, accepting, and open to all.
Oneness — We teach the unity of all life, transcending culture, era, and religion—or lack thereof.
Community asks us to move beyond separation, beyond judgment, and into the awareness that we are one body, one breath, one sacred life expressing uniquely through each of us.
It’s no accident that Wolf’s Message moved so many of us last month. In it, Suzanne Giesemann shared the powerful line:
“The time of the lone wolf is over.”
This is a call to all of us:
To return to the circle.
To lean into spiritual belonging.
To know that healing and transformation happen best together.
So, this August, I invite you to reflect:
Do I feel safe, seen, and supported in this community?
Am I extending that same experience to others?
How can I deepen my presence in the sacred circle?
Let us continue sailing together—with hearts open, arms wide, and souls anchored in Love.
In the Spirit of Community,
Rev. Denese Schellink
