All Are Welcome: Everyone Belongs

At the foundation of Unity teachings is a powerful and liberating idea: every person is a Divine creation. No one stands outside of love. No one is outside the circle of belonging.

But there are still many people who experience exclusion and judgment and are left wondering,  “Is there a place for me here? Can I bring all of who I am?” These questions reveal an important distinction—welcome is not the same as belonging. Welcome says, “You may come in.” Belonging says, “You are home.”

Creating that sense of home is a spiritual practice. It does not happen automatically. It requires intention, awareness, and a willingness to grow. Like prayer or meditation, it asks something of us. It asks us to hold an intention of radical inclusivity. 

Radical inclusivity invites us to see beyond differences and to the deeper truth: we are all Divine. As Eric Butterworth taught, our task is not to set things right, but to see them right. To see people right, we must recognize the Christ in everyone.

This way of seeing calls us to grow. It asks us to move beyond our comfort zones; even beyond understanding. It invites us to examine our own assumptions and gently expand them, not with shame, but with openness. Because our diversity is not a problem to solve—it is a sacred gift. Every difference in identity, experience, and perspective reveals more of God. When we limit who belongs, we limit our experience of the Divine itself.

The practice of belonging calls for consistency and commitment. A genuine greeting or moment of presence or just acknowledging: “I’m glad you’re here," can begin the healing process, but to heal the deep wounds calls for us to continue our work and practice of radical inclusivity.

Jesus modeled this for us. Again and again he was willing to cross boundaries and welcome those who had been overlooked or mistreated. He demonstrated a love that challenged social norms and expectations. His life reminds us that Divine love includes all.

So we are called to ask: How can we meet each person from a place of Love? And how can we meet them where they are?

The first step is to meet them with presence, listening, and respect. We honor each person’s identity and experience as sacred. We create spaces where questions are welcomed, differences are valued, and all people can show up authentically.

We also continue to do our inner work, noticing where unconscious bias or assumptions may live, and allowing our hearts to grow wider. In order to show up as love, we need to understand what holds us back from that expression.

When we truly live from the awareness that God is everywhere and in everyone, something shifts. Welcome becomes a way of being. Belonging becomes something we actively create—together.

And what we build becomes more than a community. It becomes a spiritual home—a place where people are seen, valued, and free to grow.

In that kind of space, people remember who they are: worthy, whole, and deeply connected.

This is our invitation and our commitment—to welcome boldly, include intentionally, and love expansively. In doing so, we reveal what has always been true:

All are welcome.

Everyone belongs.
