On Aging

I’ve never known an old songwriter.  I’ve never known an old jazz musician.  I’ve never known an old artist, an old spiritualist, an old novelist.  I’ve never known an old creative.

All-too-often we think that if we were more vibrant, we would finally begin to live full lives when in truth, it's only when we finally begin to live full lives that vibrancy comes forth.

I've never known an old creative - but I’ve known countless people who lived full, vibrant, inspiring lives spanning many, many years – right up to that moment at which their souls got done with their bodies and they left.

And you know, that’s not a bad way to do it.
